![]() RVC 6, Dan Wilterding, offered Region Sixers repayment for the cost of a five-minute phone call to contact a member who has not been seen in a while (or ever). Dan is personally footing the bill, so no Mensa funds are being used for this unique way to increase our sense of community. Thumbs up to this hands-on effort! Applause for the helping hand given to members by Meredy and Dick Amyx. The salient parts of the 1982 Mensa Editor's Handbook are now online at http://www.amyx.org/mensa/edshb/. This handbook's guidance ranges from solid, where-to-start recommendations to philosophical considerations. The AMC revisited "Motion 19," the one that allows the Hearings Committee to refuse to accept the resignation or lapse of a member under charges. With slight modifications from the original motion adopted in July, the current wording still conflicts with our Bylaws. The new motion passed with nine in favor, three opposed and seven abstaining. The Bylaws Committee wishes to bring the matter to referendum so the membership can validate or reject the concept. Dave Remine, Second Past Chairman, has put several relevant motions on the March AMC agenda. These motions, some of which codify the methods used in the Repp Hearing, would allow the Hearings Committee much greater leeway and ease in prosecuting those against whom charges are brought. If passed, these motions will become effective immediately. The hearing concerning Carole Bell (scheduled for March 9th in Newark, NJ) has been postponed. It is expected that the hearing, once rescheduled, will be conducted in the true spirit of the Mensa Round Table. Go for the freebie!
