Question from GF: There have
been several people who have served on AMC for long periods of time.
Do you see a need for limiting the number of consecutive years served
on the AMC, and why?
[EDITOR'S NOTE: Mr.
O'Connor declined to answer his question for Going Forward.]

Question from GF: In your current
term, you have taken some strong stands on certain issues. How do you
think this has helped Mensa, and do you plan to modify your style of
advocacy within the AMC?
Answer:
A strong stand defines one's position with certainty. Mensans in Region6
have the right to know in a plain and unequivocal manner what position
their representatives take on issues affecting the region and AML; taking
a strong and unambiguous stand complies with that right.
Diplomacy is a desirable trait. Ambiguity, subterfuge and "beating
around the bush" are attributes and actions that often wear the
mask of diplomacy but serve only to misleadthereby doing a disservice
to the Mensan community. By refraining from using such tactics I have
often provided food for thought on the issues involved whether or not
my stance was a popular one on the AMC. By stating issues plainly, and
sometimes bluntly, I have helped to make choices clear even when they
were not easy, and have at times been able to help persuade others to
my point of view.
I see my style of advocacy as one characterized by an open agenda,
as honest and just, and that has the best interests of Mensa and Mensans
at the core; therefore I'll be continuing in that style should the members
of Region6 choose to re-elect me.
